Klasse AIO in Carwash?

Anyone hear of putting AIO in a carwash bucket and using it as a wash/wax type of deal? I read in Autopia.com where a guy uses 1 lid of AIO per gallon water and washs his motorcycle, and does the same in a spray bottle for a Quik Detailer is this a waste of AIO? Or an ingenius why of getting a 2 in 1 from AIO. Also can you apply AIO over a sealant coat without harming the sealant? Ive used AIO then applied sealant coats over it but never thought about AIO over sealant.

It's worth a try. AIO goes a long way. A bottle lasts me a long time. You might as well experiment with some of it.

AIO is a sealant. Layering it wont hurt anything.

SYSTEM ONE makes a similar claim on it's packaging, but I haven't tried it and I don't push it to my customers.

My gut feeling is that it will lay a little wax down, but not nearly as much as applying it to a clean, dry surface.

Same thing regarding waxing a wet vehicle. I do that on my Tacoma with SYSTEM ONE Spray Wax, but I did an experiment where I stripped all the wax off my door (with rubbing alcohol) and the 'wax while it's still wet' technique did not lay down as much wax as was already on the fender and quarter (based on the beading I saw).

So, IMHO, it's a great 'maintenance' technique, but I wouldn't do it if your paint has absolutely no wax and your intention is to put down as much wax as possible.

EDIT: Regarding the quick detailer...we now sell an empty spray bottle in our Car Care Kits. Put one ounce of SYSTEM ONE Spray Wax in the bottle (up to the line) and fill it the rest of the way with deionized water and you have a great quick detailer.

Funny...that big 'M' company has three quick detailers and SYSTEM ONE has three products!!!

The guy that wrote the thread about using AIO in carwash said he washs his motorcycle with the concoction then rinses it then drives the bike to air dry it,he claims that the air dry helps the AIO adhere to it thus the 2 fer 1 wash/wax?

AIO is not a product you want to be layering on top of other sealants. It is a very strong paint cleaner and it would remove any sealant or wax on the surface. That is the primary purpose of the product. Just smell it. It has so much solvent in it that I wouldn't doubt it is flamable. lol This is the kind of thing that AIO will accomplish. The front half of this truck was polished with just AIO and nothing else. The back half is what the paint looked like before.

You don't want a product that can do that being used to layer on top of other sealants. It is just a paint cleaner.

As far as putting it in your car wash, that too is a bad idea. AIO will not dilute with just water. It will just sink down to the bottom and basically do nothing. The same holds true for using it in a QD. People on Autopia do crazy things, but it doesn't always mean they work. Science does not support getting any results from what they are doing by putting AIO in their QDs or wash buckets. All they would get is a streaky mess if they were able to get any of the product to mix with the water. Besides, with all the products out there that already do a great job at cleaning the paint as a soap or QD, why try to use some Mickey Mouse method and reinvent the wheel?

That isn't to knock Autopia at all either. I'm Jngrbrdman over there and I've been on that board for five or six years. I was one of the first moderators and was an assistant admin with David for awhile. I've got nothing but respect for a lot of the guys over there, but there are some really wacky techniques being practiced by some people... Just because it was on Autopia doesn't mean it is the right or only way to do something.

Sounds good to me. I didn't really think adding AIO to wash water would provide much benefit.

I'll just stick with my regular washing, polishing, waxing and quick detailing methods.

Thanx a million$$$$$ OC Details that is exactly the kind of info that I needed before trying this trick,on my Taco I washed, clayed,AIO'd,mulitply coats of DP Surface Shield sealant thats it ,I.\'ll stick to just topping with sealant. How many times a year is it a good idea to redo this process or can reappling sealant to a still clean finish be okay.

Found this on the Autogeek AIO product page (http://www.autogeek.net/klasseallinone.html) this evening:

NEVER USE DISH DETERGENT for washing your car. Use a capful of this polish [AIO] instead. Although you will not have a foamy cleaning solution, dirt will be lifted from your vehicle’s surface.

So, it sounds like Klasse and/or Autogeek ia endorsing this idea.
