Finally got my interior clean, this material is a dirt magnet!
I don't know what it is, these seats get dirty and spotted so easy... After spilling 1/2 bottle of iced tea in my passenger seat, I guess it's time. I couldn't take it any more, I broke out the Little Green Clean Machine, gave it a good scrubbing, and shot them with Scotch Guard.
I read that a lot of guys put covers on, I guess this is why??? I don't know what it is about this material, but it looks like crap real quick. Fortunatly it seems to clean just as easy. It even held up to the brake cleaner for the tough spots. If I didn't get a brain tumor from spraying the ScotchGuard, it will have been worth it. "Use in a well vented area" is an understatement! That stuff has acetone in it.....
Looks like new again

I don't mind the material in my TRD seats - its the crappy "carpet" (for lack of a better description) that I have beef with. I would have prefered a rubber floor much like the FJ - or at least a sensible option of replacing it.
I would expect any seat that has tea spilled in it would need a good cleaning. Maybe you should put clear plastic seat covers on yours.
I like the material in the TRD seats, other than the little circles seem to hang on to stuff that gets into them. The standard seats didn't look substandard when I was looking at Tacomas. Has anyone seen the Nissan Frontier seats? They have the same type material in one of their trucks, but with red fabric under the black holes, looks fantastic.
I got a new office chair that has the same fabric with the holes on it at Sam's. I guess that must be a new fabric that is En Vogue right now.
I agree the carpet in these things is way too cheap. Maybe accecptable in a Yaris, but not in a $28k truck. I bet it wouldn't even be defined as carpet if we knew how it was made.
Because it is detailing related and not necessarily vehicle specific. If we are going to talk products and techniques in cleaning seats, that would be a topic that fits for any Toyota owner.
