Good Adheasive Remover

Hey everyone,

A few months ago when i was removing the windows in my '81 Corolla i noticed they were held in place with a tar-like sticky adheasive. I left it since but now its becoming a pain in the a**. I've tried to remove it but whenever i do the stuff seems to become a huge hassle and gets everywhere. So does anyone know of a cheapish adheasive remover??

Thanks a bunch

I like this stuff because it uses natural citrus oils to get the job done... it smells good, works well and is pretty safe.

Get the bulk of it off with some Goo Gone and light rubbing. Rubbing hard can make swirls. Then finish it up with some light polish or a "cleaner wax"

That glue left behind by tint is some serious stuff. You might want to go to a tint shop and see if they have some stuff you could buy. I did it one time with Goof Off, rag, and razor blade, but it took a while. Goof Off is a lot stronger than Goo Gone. Don't get Goof Off on your door panel or your paint. It might be a good idea to totally remove the door panel, so you don't have to worry about damaging it.

When I had to help a neighbor remove his limo tint due to a ticket I ended up having to use acetone. Nothing else would touch that damn glue. He had lived in Arizona and the desert sun really baked it on. I did not remove the door panels but I did completely cover them with paint shop plastic tape & drape material. I did test the drape with acetone first to see if it would get melted but it was fine. Even with acetone it took a lot of work to remove the last traces of the glue. Before using acetone, we tried GooGone, paint thinner, naptha, and turpentine with no luck at all. And just in case it makes any difference the window tint film was made by 3M.
