3rd Generation How to deal with Rust properly

Hey I got a couple of bad rust spots on my 93 Camry, any ideas on how to deal with them?

So far I've heard the best way is to sand it all out, then use touch up paint?

Yea sand it down, bondo it, and paint, it's not perfect but it works... I just got some paint the same color as my car (dark emrald pearl) and painted all the rust...

cut them out, weld in new metal. thats the only way to get rid of rust properly. or buy a new car, cause i doubt you want to spend the massive amount of money to have someone do it for you.

Rust is like cancer. Ya gotta totally remove it, or it will come back.

For light surface rust on the chassis I will use Rust Fix, but your rust is worse than surface rust.

How about them rust removing products you can buy? There some sorta acid that reacts with the rust. Do they actually work? Or is cutting out and welding a new piece in the only way?

As long as it hasnt eatten through all the way, and left holes, you could probably do something like grinding/sanding it down to fresh metal, covering it with something like POR-15 to prevent future rust, then filling in the low spots with bondo, sand it down, then paint it. Around the windshield though looks bad. it wouldnt surprise me if there were holes there, and you dont want to fill holes with bondo. They make some epoxies for small holes, and there's a way you can use fiberglass to fill larger ones, but this gets pretty complicated, definatly not an easy task. Plus you're still left with a car covered in bondo/primer spots thatll need to be repainted, which means repainting the whole car to make it look right.
