It just depends what you want. Something easy, super shiny, long lasting? A carnauba wax is usually a little better looking on black paint, but a synthetic (Klasse) is longer lasting. Don't buy any ICE stuff. It's just hype.

You need to adopt a good washing habit and get some good towels and stuff. Search this forum and read the How To Detail sticky thread.

I always recommend Zymol. Even the cleaner wax does a good job. The Titanium Glaze I use really shines things up

i love poorboys' natty paste wax blue....best wax iver ever tried, and the blue is formulated for dark colored cars
it applies easily with a damp foam wax applicator pad and goes off easy with a clean microfiber

get it at www.autogeek.net

I second this, as long as you have an existing layer of wax, this is a superb product to upkeep your paint.

I like NUfinish. And it was recommended by a buddy that works in a body shop. He says the biggest bang for the buck.

+1

"Best" is really a subjective term. If you are looking for durability then you need to look for a synthetic sealant. If you want looks then you typically need a wax. There are some sealants that blend the best of both world, but you are really going to have to see them in person to know which one YOU like best. Detailing is an art and nobody can tell you what kind of art you like.

As far as maintaining that look on your truck, as long as you keep it in the shade reflecting a brightly lit background, then it always will look like that. Otherwise it is going to take daily quick detailing and very regular waxing to keep it looking perfect. As Pb said, you should start with a good process and then move to products. Just about anything will make black look shiny, so the real trick is to perfect the process of detailing first. No sense in spending hours and hours obsessing over your paint only to end up taking counter productive steps in caring for it.

I've been detailing since I was 14.When it needs a buffer or as far as even needing wet sanded and buffed(especially black)...I'm the guy people call on that know me. Paint prep is a must for that deep shine.Just a wash and wax won't give you that jaw dropping wet look. After complete scratch, swirl, and other imperfection removal, then you can wax.Everybody has their own favorite.I use a layering of Meguires NXT(let breath for 2 hours after removing)and then top with P21S carnuba wax that uses a wipe on -wipe off no drying technique. This makes my Black Sand '05 Tacoma look great.
When buying a "carnuba" wax, remember there is no such thing as 100% carnuba wax sold.It would be like a brick of dried out bar of soap! Their selling pitch is that it is "made with" 100%.
The closest wax to 100% sold is a very expensive high end concours Zymoil(not what you find at wal-mart in the blue container). It has almost 60% and has to melt in the palm of your hand before applying.By the way,it cost something like $1500.00 for a 20oz. jar.

You're probably refering to Zymol Vintage Glaze. It contains 61% White Brazilian Carnauba Wax. It's expensive, but it does come with free Lifetime refills. I think you can get it refilled a max of twice a year. I've used it before. The hand application thing is kinda gimmicky, IMO. I prefer to smear a little bit on a buffer pad. The buffer motion creates enough heat to get it melty. It is amazing wax.

P21S or Pinnacle Souveran is more reasonable option, price-wise.
