Getting rid of smell inside

I had lunch leftovers in the car for about half a day, on a hot day, windows closed. The meal was meat-based.

When I got back to the car, it had that nasty smell and still does, 3 days later. I leave it with windows open every night but the rotten meat stink seems to have embedded itself in the fabric.

Will this smell every go away? Should I try car air fresheners?

Have you thought about bringing the car to the car wash for a detail? They use those shampoo vacuum cleaners. Tell them to clean the carpet and the seats.

Or get your yourself a carpet cleaner. They sell those small ones made specially for furniture and car interiors.

After you do that, spray some febreeze on it.

Febreeze FTW. That's what I've always used. Febreeze and leave the windows down as much as possible.

Or, leave an open box in your car-- then transfer it to your fridge to get rid of those stinky leftover smells.

careful with shampoo... it could spread...

odor can be from bacteria or fungi and you'll need to kill those to remove the odor. however, occasionally home products can help. cut up some lemons and leave them in the car over night or leave a opened box of baken soda overnight could help. they basically just suck up the odor for you. but they won't kill the bacteria or fungi if that's what you have...

Place a bowl of ground coffee under one of the seats. Worked in a car that was bought from a smoker.

Coffee grounds? never hear of that..I'll try it! The previous owner of the Coupe was a major heavy smoker, otta be dead, really! New leather helped a bunch, but I still have a little lingering Odor, esp on the hottest days!
