Cleaning interior of FJ

I took it my FJ to a local carwash, they did a great job exteriorly but not on the interior. What ever they used to wipe down the doors caused the black panels to appear filmy. I used a wet towel, still filmy. I used windex, still filmy. Any suggestions? The dealership told me not to use Armorall because it makes the silver accent come off of the inside. Anyone else told that? need help, thanks.

It depends on what they used -- a dressing, or a cleaner that reacted with your finish.

Check your owner's handbook for care info. I'm not familiar with the finish you're talking about, but probably a general carpet & upholstery cleaner would suffice. Windex glass cleaner with ammonia should be avoided on surfaces unless you're sure they're compatible.

If you can describe it other than "black panels" that might be helpful.

The "dealership" is not always full of the best advice, though it depends on who you talk to.

Hey evelyn1971,

It is hard to find a good product that when used on panels will not leave a film behind. If the panels are a type of plastic I would suggest trying the Adam's Leather and Interior Cleaner. It works great on panels and more. Check out the link.

Let me know if you have anymore questions.
