Wax to remedy Frost?

I work nights and in doing so I can't park my car in a garage to keep it away from the cold and thus the frost that forms on my car (mainly the roof , hood, and rear deck).

Do you guys think that a nice wax job or something along that line will help keep the frost off or at least protect the paint?

What do you recommend short of a car cover?

It will protect the paint, but I don't think anything will protect your car from frost gathering.

My car's exterior is waxed, however, frost still forms on there.

I guess I better just lay a few layers just for paint protection.

Too bad I missed that group buy from early this year on the polisher kit.

That would be quite the wax product, if it kept frost from forming!

I don't think the frost will hurt your paint much. Just keep it clean and waxed.

frost is generally formed because the inside is hotter than the outside ... so in terms of the roof, if you kept your windows rolled down a bit, frost shouldnt form (ideally)

nothing u can do about the hood because the engine will always be hotter than its surroundings

Actually, frost forms when a given surface is at or below the dewpoint and also at or below freezing (32°F or 0°C). Notice that I didn't say anything about the air temperature.

Because surfaces can be cooler than the air temperature (due to the black sky pulling heat from the surface of the earth), often times vehicles under trees or under car ports receive less dew and / or frost.

It can be 35°F or even as high as 40°F and you can still get frost. However, you need to have a clear sky and little or no wind. Clouds block the radiation and wind actually warms the surface when heat is being radiated int othe black sky.

So, in some situations, parking under a tree or under a carport may keep frost form forming.

I found that after I wax my car, the frost forms even faster and thicker.

second the parking under things suggestion. Even parking close to a wall will help.

hmmm

my vote is put on collinite get it from mactecllc.com they have free shipping and sell at cost. do a search on collinite all over the web and you'll be amazed at its results, i wax my car 4 times a year and thats all i need. keeps the rust, chips, and grime away. AND whatever you do, DO NOT USE turtle wax and zymol wax. zymol was bought by turtle wax and its just rebottled turtle wax. turtle wax is the worst you can do for your car. if you do want zymol get the expensive $400 ones.

I wouldn't go that far. Turtle wax makes some OK products.

Zymol bottled in Illinois is the cheap stuff. Zymol made in the UK is the good stuff. I've used a sample of their Royal Glaze, ($6k a bottle) which is way overpriced, but it has some of the best ingredients in the world. Amazing deep shine. But there are many other waxes that come pretty close to it, for less than $100.

Just to be sure that isn't a typo... When you say $6k, you mean 6,000, that's 3 zeros at the end right? How big is that bottle, it better be bigger than a yaris gas tank.
