Paint Sealant question

Hey rookie member here with a paint sealant question. I've been waxing with mothers for years and only after I've found this forum have I begun to broaden my horizons on paint protection. Thinking of trying a paint sealant which everyone says lasts longer than wax. Thinking of Klasse or something I can get locally. My question is: after you apply the sealant, do I wait to buff it off with a MF towel for the "cure" process, or can I buff it off right away? I live in a developing neighborhood and if I let the car sit for more than a couple hours to buff, I know there will be a slight film of dust on the paint, which will scratch the finish if I buff it 8 hours after applying the glaze.

Am I making sense? I just wish there were how-to videos on glaze application.

Thanks everyone!

Sealants, Glaze, Carnauba, You apply it all pretty much the same way. Variations in your waxing technique are not going to make much of a difference.

When I apply most sealants I just put it on the whole car then buff it all off. For example: I'll apply the sealant to the hood, then roof, then front passenger fender, passenger doors, rear fender, trunk, drivers fender, drivers doors, drivers fender, front bumper, rocker panels, rear bumper, etc. I basically just work all the way around the vehicle until I get back to where I started. Then once the whole vehicle is waxed I will get a good MF towel and buff the wax off of the hood, then the roof, etc, etc.

Ok, great. That's what I thought. I read somewhere that Klasse directions says to do a small area at a time, not letting the sealant dry too long. I might have been mixing up the directions for the All In One Klasse, not the sealant Glaze.

Thanks for the response.

I'm going to do a little more research and post some pics when I finish detailing my 2000 4runner Sr5. It looks terrific now, but that's because I wax it once a month. If I can seal the paint and get it to last for at least 3 months, i'd feel like I won the lottery.

Directions vary from product to product.

Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant says to always work on small areas at a time. Meguiars NXT Tech Wax specifically says to apply to the entire vehicle and then buff off.

In general, I've found that I get the best results from a product if I actually follow the manufacturer directions. Go figure

paint sealant update

So i had Klasse AIO and SG, but after reading a great sealant comparison on autopia.org, I decided to try Mark V paint sealant with carnauba. I put Klasse on some pannels and Mark V on others. Hands down, Mark V won. Easier to apply/buff off, and it left a much deeper and glossier finish. AND, it's cheaper than Klasse. I will post some updates on durability.

For those who arent' familiar with Mark V, it's owned by Mother's.

Just my .02
