Random Orbiter Question

I went shopping for a random orbiter for polishing / buffing purposes. Never knew there were so many types, I was just wondering differences and which one should I get?

I found 7" or 10" buffers. Some with 2 hands (like a steering wheel) and some with one. Is a corded better than a cordless 12V?

Thanks for your advice

Cordless are crap. Too weak.

Go with 7". They concentrate the work more. The kind with "steering wheel" handles are usually slow and are only good for waxing, not polishing. They are a waste of money. Save up a little more money and get a real buffer.

Adam's Polishes has the Porter Cable 7424 for $99. That's what you need.

I always thought the bigger the pad is, the harder it is to burn paint?
also, what is the rpm range I am looking for? is 3000 too slow?

An orbital isnt going to burn the paint. Rotarys can.

I'd only use a 10" pad on a big $300 buffer that has the power to spin a big pad.

Just get a PC 7424 and some 7" pads. Trust me.
