dust and static

hello:

i'm new to the forums and have purchased a 2008 highlander. Its black so I'm trying to keep it as clean as possible. I've purchased Klasse products and have so far used the AIO Cleaner. prior to using the cleaner I've clayed the entire car. I plan on applying the sealant glaze, but have noticed that after I've washed the car a day later there's a nice uniform layer of dust. I realize that I live in a desert, however it's so uniform that I almost believe it's due to static cling. I guess my question is; are they products that reduce or eliminate static cling so that my showroom shine lasts more than 24hrs? Any help would be great! Thanks in advance.

Hey dmdatwork,

Welcome to TN!

Describe the environment and weather you experience?

Do you live near a Highway, or a industrial area?

I look forward to your Reply!

Thanks,

Justin:

I live in a suburb of Las Vegas. and as any growing city, Las Vegas has many construction sites. The closest highway is about 5 miles away. Until about a week ago it's been very windy, but I've been experiencing the dust layer even before the winds kicked up.

I've been using meguiars deep crystal wash and drying with an Absorber. Like I posted before, I have clayed and used Klasse AIO. Thanks in advance for any help.

I've read on other forums that using microfiber towels on your car can contribute to generating static cling like you've described. I've seen a couple of people recommend wiping the car down with FK1 425 Spray Detailer to eliminate the static as a final step in detailing.

Never tried it myself, but might be worth trying.

Maybe the dust is uniformed because you applied a perfectly even coat wait I can't even do that, lol. I am not sure if the wax attracts dust or not? Lets trouble shoot: Has this happened before there? Did it start when you changed wax?

Look forward to your Reply!

Thanks,
