Adam's Pads & Adapter

I have a question about the quick release adapter and pad. With this adapter what prevents the metal from coming through the pad and touching the painted surfaces?

Mike,

I have three of his pads, an all black one, a black/white one and an orange pad. They all are really thick and have seem to be of a two piece construction (actually two pads) with a plastic disk in the middle. The quick release adapter does not even make it to the middle of the pad. Litterally I can take the all black pad (the softest one) and push all the way down on it and the adapter would not hit my paint.

It is a really good system, much better than velcro. The black/white pad is a must have.

The pads have a plastic core that keep the adapter from going through all the way. I don't see how you could damage your paint with these pads & adapter.
