washing lower body panels

What tools do you like to use for washing these areas? I mean the areas under the door line. Also just above the door line too. Do you like to use a separate wash mitt or a soft brush?

Separate wash mitt, usually do last.

That's what works for me.

Correct on both accounts! Rims first (wash and dry) then the top of the car down. Mid door switch mitts.

A grit guard at the bottom of the bucket also helps the dirt settle and not end up on the other soaking mitt.

Very good response wideawake!

While I do have a grit guard, it's not essential. You can use two buckets, one to rinse dirt away from the mitt and one to suds.

If I'm doing a thorough cleaning of my wheels, I do them first, along with my wheel wells and other grungy areas with a separate bucket and old mitt.

Especially if I'm using a wheel and/or tire cleaner, doing these areas first helps make sure I get them rinsed thoroughly, as they'll be rinsed again while I'm washing the body of the car with my sheepskin mitt and a fresh bucket of suds.
