Waxed car and rain

I have a new Corolla that's not yet two months old. The dealership told me that the car was treated with something called Toyoguard, which acts like a conventional car wax. I've read the sticky already, but it says that most detergents will probably wash off the wax. My question then is: What should I do to maintain it at this point? Should I just rinse it regularly? What about dead bugs and bird droppings?

Also, the car is usually parked outside. Although we don't get a lot of rain, when we do is it necessary to rush out and wipe the rain off afterwards, before it's allowed to dry?

personally I cant comment on toyoguard. I would not stress it and rinse it off every time it rains. If it were mine I would wait till mid summer then apply a coat or two of my fav wax and just keep up with it.

Toyoguard=money for the dealership. Waste o' money for that. Just keep your car washed how ever often you want and apply a coat of wax every now and again. Keep it shiny in between washings with some detail spray. You can wipe off the rain if you live near factories that produce pollutants.

By "detergent" they're probably talking dish soap.

A quality car wash and wax will be fine. I don't think I'd bother buying in to their product line, which is probably marginal at best.

And yes, these things are dealer add-ons and really, it's a sneaky ploy they use to get more money out of you at negotiation time.

Basically, pretend you don't have this protection plan and you'll be fine.

Hi VisualSpoiler++,

Congrats on the New Car!

I would suggest claying the car and adding your own protection. And then keeping up with a quality car wash and a coat of wax from time to time!

The bugs and bird droppings Suck if left on the finish for to long! I remove all with Detail Spray Daily. The Acidic makeup of these nasty annoyances mixed with the sun will eventually eat away at your clear coat.
