Smile Mcguire 3 step for 2005 Corolla

Hi fellow TNers,
My brother has a 2005 Corolla. It's been always been parked in his garage. My question is this: Should I use the 3 step or just use the polish and wax? I very doubt the car has oxidation. Any input would be appreciated.

Polish and wax should do it, but I would clay bar it first to remove any contaminants.

It depends on the color and the condition... if it's a dark color with light spiderwebbing, it might appreciate the 3-step. If it's a light color, a cleaner wax would be fine.

If you're buying product, consider the Mothers 3-step... it's easier to use and provides great results... 3-step or 1-step I like Mothers. FYI, the cleaner wax is included in both maker's clay kits.

To follow up with the Maguires 3 step.

I did the 3 steps a few weeks ago, what can I do to maintain the shine?

Thanks guys

With the Mothers 3-step Ultimate Wax System (a similar system), you'd use the step 3 to maintain the shine every few weeks. As necessary, use step 2 followed by step 3.

But with newer options like FX Spray Wax, you can quickly add extra shine and protection after a wash.

Use a spray wax with a MF cloth in between washes. Eagle One wax as u dry works well. Carnauba wax needs to be reapplied every 2-3 months, if you park indoors, maybe a bit longer.

A good one-step product you can use is Meg's ColorX or Cleaner Wax #6. You can use it with a buffer or by hand.
