Which pads, etc. for PC 7424?

I'm buying a Porter Cable 7424. What pads, etc., will I need?
Thanks!

I like the Lake Country 6" backing plate and 6-1/2" pads -- I've got a full assortment, but what you need depends on what your challenges are and can be influenced by what products you're using.

As a minimum, I like a yellow cutting, maybe an orange light cutting, a white polishing pad, maybe a black finessing and a red waxing/final finishing pad.

If you're using a one-step cleaner wax, you can just use a black pad.

Certainly you won't go through every pad each time you wax, but having a choice is nice.

Here's the first set I bought:

You might also want to try a 4" spot pad. It uses a 3.5 inch backing plate and has the same grade of pads as the 6 or 8 inch versions but due to its size, the 4 inch pads generate more temperature which may remove swirls better than the larger versions. They also come in a kit (backing plate, pad assortment and adaptor) and can be used with a cordless drill.

Stay away from the CCS pads. They are no more than a marketing gimmick. Lake Country, Meguiar's or Sonus 6-inch pads will be more than enough.
