Best scratch remover

What's everyone think the best scratch remover is to remove some post-offroading Arizona pinstriping?

I like Mothers Scratch Remover if I'm working by hand... a little finesse usually makes a big improvement. It's a true polish without fillers.

^Sweet, thanks. Anyone else have any opinions? How 'bout that stuff that comes in the orange bottle, Scratch Doctor, or whatever it's called? Anyone used that, or anything else that worked successfully? Thanks again.

I tend to shy away from infomercial stuff, which is what I think you're talking about, so I don't have any first-hand experience wtih that.

Quixx comes in an orange or yellow package, and it was rated high by Consumer Reports, but it's expensive, so the nod went to Mothers. Though now you can get Quixx at Wal-Mart, but I forgot to notice the price while I was there tonight... I think it's about $13 there.

It also depends on how deep the scratch is. If you can see primer then you're SOL.

^No, don't think I'm down to primer. Not sure if I want to fork out the $$ for the Quixx stuff either.

And the orange bottle stuff is also sold at Walmart, although I wouldn't doubt that there's commercials for it.

Don't be lured by that gimmicky stuff. Real Polish and a real Buffer is the best scratch remover.

I detailed a Nissan Murano this weekend. It had some marring, swirls, and bird poop etching. I fixed all of it. The owner of the car was very happy.

I used Adam's polishes and a Porter Cable 7424 buffer.

^I've tried polishing compounds in the past, they swirl mark the heck out of my paint. (Aftermarket, not sure who did it, seems a bit sub-par)

I tried the orange bottle stuff (NuFinish Scratch Doctor) and it didn't do a dang thing. It will be being returned tonight. Guess I'll give it up, I hear Quixx works, but it's just too dang expensive.

On a side note I picked up a Mothers Powerball Mini and some Mag/Aluminum polish, and they're doing a great job on the rims, nice and shiny. Touch up paint for a couple of huge gouges in the paint is also working out too.

Yeah, that stuff sucks . But all it is (AFAIK) is a soft wax filler. Pretty useless on anything I've tried it on.

Pb, amazing job on the Nissan!

Ok so I finally spent the money and bought two boxes of the WIXX system (30 bucks ) and it actually does work. It took some moderate scratching off my hood, and took a pretty decent patch of the beginning stages of oxidation off of my passenger side bed. They also include a couple little strips of ridiculously fine-grit sandpaper to use on slightly larger scratches. I haven't tried that yet, but I might on and inconspicous area of a rather large pinstripe that I recieved on my last offroading trip that goes all the way down the friggin drivers side, which has (had) new paint on it. But that's the price you pay. I'll let everyone know what happens.
