Thank you Adam's Polishes (and Pb) - Swirl Marks Destroyed!!

I started this thread a while back to help figure out a plan of attack for my wife's car: Detailing Masters....I need a plan of attack (pics included)

I got some helpful responses from PB and Justin (Adam's Polishes).

I then made a few detailing related purchases :

And turned this:

Into this:

I still have a little more work to do on her (I got a late start today and didn't have quite as much time to work on the car as I would like) but the improvement is quite amazing as is.

What I did:
1. Washed and then dried the car
2. Clayed it using a clay bar I got from Adam's Polishes
3. Used an Orange Polish Pad w/ Swirl and Haze Remover (both from Adam's)
4. Finished it of with Adam's Machine Super Wax

If I hadn't been on a time crunch I would have gone back over a few spots on the car with the white (less abrasive) polish pad and Fine Machine Polish to clean things up even more, but I was running out of daylight and needed to get things done. Luckily my Tacoma only has very light swirl marks on it so I will get to try out that combo (white polish pad w/ Fine Machine Polish) on my truck.

Thanks again to all the guys at Adam's - their customer service was excellent, their detailing DVD was very helpful for someone who had never used a PC buffer before, and their products work wonderfully. Also gotta through a big shout-out to PB, his "how-to" detailing thread (Detailing your vehicle (Exterior)) was also VERY helpful.

That sucks, their customer service was incredible.

Hopefully they just stopped being vendors because of a lack of customers from this site and not because of other reasons (i.e. over-all drop in their business). When times get tough (economically) people cut-back on a lot of things, I imagine Adam's Polishes is feeling the pinch as well.

It's cyclic - just rotating sites, we'll be back! Discount is still very active and as always we are always open to help out!

That's good to hear.

2 Tacomas, that paint is looking great. What speed are you running the buffer? I like to do my finish passes with a real slow movement of the buffer across the paint, with the buffer motor speed on #6.

Most people don't understand that you have to move the buffer real slow when you are polishing. You gotta really work the polish. It ain't just wipe it on and wipe it off. I can easily spend a whole hour just polishing the hood of a car. Polishing takes time, but it's worth it.

I ran the PC buffer at about 3.5 to get rid of the majority of the swirls. I decided to use the more aggressive orange polish pad with the swirl and haze remover polish from Adam's. I took the advice that you posted in your "how to" thread and took it nice and slow and then worked my way up the "speed spectrum" on the trouble spots that required a bit more work. For a few of the real trouble spots I cranked up the speed (to between 5 and 6), but that was only after spending quite a bit of time at 3.5. I can't thank you enough for taking the time to document and post your "how to" detailing threads. Those threads are what finally convinced me to 'take the plunge' and buy the equipment & materials needed to tackle these swirls marks. I can't wait to work on my Tacoma - as soon as I get a chance to clean her up (hopefully this upcoming weekend) I will post some new pics in the "show of your truck" thread in the Tacoma forum.

Sounds good. If I were you I'd use that Fine Machine Polish after using the Swirl & Haze Remover. The Fine Machine polish will get out all the little imperfections, and leave a higher gloss finish.

Once you get more familiar with the PC you can use the higher speeds more often. I put some polish on the pad, and spread it around slow, and then kick it up to speed 6 almost the whole time. The higher speed really produces results a lot faster.
