paint matching questions

I dont know if this is the right forum but ill give it a shot. I just painted a fender for my 97 corolla (dark green). I got the paint code off the door jamb and went to an automotive store and he gave me a couple cans of paint. I sanded down the door and primed it with good primer and then sanded that with fine sand paper. I put 3-4 thin coats of paint on and then 3 coats of clear coat. Now I thought that was all i had to do but the fender just doesnt match right. The colour looks like it matches ( it might be a tiny tiny bit darker) but it isnt nearly as shiny. Do I need to keep putting clear coat on it or is the paint the culprit. This isn't the first time ive painted something but its the first time I have had to have it match, and i usually use a gun but i figured with the code the paint in the cans would be just as good as something mixed up.

After letting the paint cure, you need to wet sand or polish with an agressive polish and pad. Gradually work your way down to finer pads and polishes till the paint (clear coat) sparkles. Then seal and wax. Another thing might be that you used a low quality clear coat.
