Went outside today to find thousands of what I assume are migrating birds from the north.I mean thousands flying circles around over the neighborhood, and there is bird shit everywhere, including my truck!I had to take 3 vehicles to the spray wash to clean them off.I have a good protective pollish & wax on them all so it came off with no ill efects, but my neighbor's cars still have spots you can see where it was.I told him to get a good pollish and hand buff;any suggestions on what will take care of it?I only use Mothers products on mine and it protected me well.I didn't take any pictures because I was in panic mode about my paint and hauled ass to the wash.Anyone else down here in the south get bombed?
I saw on a car show where the best way to get it up was to put baking soda and water on it to dissolve the crap and then just soak it onto a rag (not wipe, because evidently some birds swallow small rocks which will scratch the paint if you wipe it).
As far a spots after someone's tried taking it off, I'm going to second the buffing suggestion.

Our mailman feeds the local seagulls. Every day, around 2PM, there are literally 50-100 seagulls sitting on my house and in the cul du sac. Finally got me to clean the garage enough to get my truck parked away from the bombardment...

Out of curiosity, what kind of birds were they? I've found that all bird poop is not the same, not that I'm taste-testing the stuff or anything.... I've found that seagulls are by far the worst, and if you don't get their crap off quickly they can do a lot of damage. On the other hand my sister has a lot of starlings in her area, and they just leave these benign little All Bran lookin' nurdles that just brush off. Getting the crap off ASAP is the best defense.

Baking soda and water is a good idea. The reason bird turds are so damaging is because it is so acidic. Baking soda will nuetralize the acid and prevent further damage.
Bird crap really does suck, and I found out that birds swallow rocks to help them digest the hard way. About 10 months after a new paint job, I tried to wipe some bird crap off of my car, and it scratched it. I got some good advice, get a small wash bottle, or spray bottle and fill it with half hot water, and half car wash fluid, than go spray the bird crap with it and let it soak, after that soak it up with a rag, do not wipe it. Now I carry that bottle in the car with me. Whenever Im getting into my car I inspect it for bird crap, if I see some I just spray is so it doesn't settle and take care of it when I get home. Never let bird crap sit.
