Random Rust Spots???????ugh

ok so i'm aware this might be moved because its talking about a sequoia but anyways....

So we got a brand new 2009 Sequoia - like a blueish slate grey color LOADED-cost 50K... we've had it for about two weeks and barely put 550mi. on it. well I was giving it its first real wash today and everything is all fine and dandy until........woohoo.....i rinse off the roof to wash it and loandbehold, there's rust spots all over the roof of this thing. not BIG ones but the fact that they're there, the thing is practically brand new, and did i mention brand new? and did i mention theyre everywhere on the top of this thing?????
i'm guessing that it was on the top of the delivery trailer and some whatever-it-was flew up from the truck (maybe the diesel? who knows..) and not only is there rust in the metal itself, but the roof racks (PLASTIC) have a little bit that's been EATEN away by something....needless to say we're pissed off.
anywho... has anybody every had this happen to their trucks? i've heard its happened to a couple tacoma's and whatnot. MOD please dont move this because i need some taco sympathy here...

It's been moved....
Did you notice it at delivery?? If not...clay bar it, and enjoy the purchase.

It's probably something called rail rust, from being transported by train and the rust from the rails or railroad cars settling onto the paint. Like the previous poster stated, clay bar it and it should be as good as gold. Sorry, it has to be moved to the correct section. In fact, I can move it to the detailing forum to get you more looks for your thread.

^^^Yeah, sure sounds like rail rust. When I detailed for a dealership years ago, a lot of cars coming off the transport truck had that same thing. We were pretty particular about cleaning it off for that very reason. Pissed off customers. Clay bar is what you want, but I would try and take it back to the dealer and ask them take care of it. You paid 50k for the truck after all, you shouldn't have to do something they should have already taken care of. It isn't something they have never seen before. Good Luck

ohh, if it isn't rail rust and something that is down to the metal I would be pretty pissed off too. Not sure what it would be. Best of luck getting it resolved.

Since it's brand new then head back to the dealer and have them take care of it.

take it back to the dealership, you have warranty regarding this problem, read your warranty booklet. they will still probably blame you for having it sitting out in the street, calling it fall out (natural causes). your new truck was probably sitting out in the new car lot for a period of time. once they sold it to you, they should have detail out the whole vehicle for you.
I had a problem with my new tacoma, rust on my chrome bumper, I went back and complaint about it, especially after buying 3 tacomas from the same dealership. they just swap out the chrome bumper with another vehicle.
good luck, and don't take a no answer from them.

I don't know, sometimes random thoughts just pop up in my head and my hands just start typing, it's weird.

don't walk on water, it will cause the rust to spread.
