touch up paint so good, you can never tell it was there.

Hi,

10 years ago, my friend's car was keyed pretty bad. She told me she bought the original paint (looked like a pen?) from toyota. She paint it on, then after a few minutes, she buffed it. It turned out to be so good that I could never tell the difference.

I bought the original touchup pen for my VW which came with two pens, one is paint and the other is the clear coat. It never worked out well. I'm thinking of ordering the TOYOTA pen for my VW and another for my Corolla.

I called the Toyota dealer but they say they only carry the Sherwin Williams paint. Does anyone have experience with their touchup and was able to make it soooo good that you can't tell the difference on your toyota? If so, can you snap a picture of the pen and tell me the name / manufacturer of it?

Thanks,
Gordon

I have some keyed scatches on my car, some are deep. I don't need that much paint. I found http://www.langka.com and saw their video. Can you tell me if I would be able to see the difference between the fixed surface vs. a surface that has not been scratched?

Thanks,
Gordon

unfortunately, yes, you will be able to see the touch-up, unless you're one helluva good body/paint guy. The langka system works well on small chips, not long scratches. You have nothing to lose if you want to try the repair yourself, but you'll probably have to go for a paint job.
Some NAPA stores will custom mix a spray bomb for you. They will need your paint code and your VIN. Not all NAPA stores do custom paint mixing, so call ahead. A can cost me about $30.00 CAN. I'm not sure how much they are down there. And get a can of clear coat to finish the repair.
Or...find/start another thread, asking TN members for a good body shop in your area. It may be worth a visit to see what they can do..

I'm still looking for the best deep key scratch remover.

the langka didn't rank so well in amazon.. maybe like you said, it doesn't work well for long lines..which is what i have.

yea i bought oem touchup pen from paintpens on ebay. i still really can't get paint to flow out right, i dunno are the pens old and paint is dried up inside or what. It sucks when there are rock dents and touchup paint can't really fix it.

For me I've found that I have to resort to fixing the scratches and leaving them "good enough"

I've bought the paints and find that the stuff I bought from Car Quest was perfect when first sprayed, then when it dried it got lighter.

The paint pen seems to be perfect if I don't put a clear coat on it. I've tried the wetsanding and other stuff but can't quite get the paint to match.

Plus I think letting the paint cure for 30 days may also change the color too.
