Angry Squirrel Scratches on Hood! HELP!

Damn! Get THIS... I was clay baring the car last night. So what of the chances a animal gets on the hood and scratches the PAINT!?!?!

I wake up to finish the job and what do I see???? SCRATCHES!!! :ahhhh:

The paint is a dark metalic red. The scratches are white. And their depth goes from cant put your nail in the scratch to barely able to... to a scratch right down to the primer.

There are at least 10 scratches!!!!!!! all across the hood!!!!!!!!

I have a 6" orbital with a few cotton pads ready to put on it.
But I dont know what to put on, or use or even in what steps.

Do I use pre-wax? Special scratch remover?
Rubbing compound? Polishing compound?

Do I use touch-up paint first on the deeper scratches?

PLEASE help. I wanted her nice and shiny and now I have a car that is really scratched up.

If the scratches goes down to primer deep or more, use touch up paint to fill them in. Then use a very fine WET sand paper, I think it's 2000 grit maybe 3000 grit and sand down the filled in scratch so everything is close to even. Don't sand too much or you can take off TOO much, be generous with water while sanding.

Then, you can use rubbing compound to smoothen out the sanding scratches, which makes them smaller. Then use polishing compound to take out the rest. You should be left with smooth shiny paint.

If the scratches are not deep down to the primer, use rubbing compound first. Then polishing compound.

No insult to anyone, but if you have never done this kind of work chances are you cannot do it right never mind fading. Take it to a good shop and get it repainted if it is that bad. As for the rat with a fuzzy tail. Shoot, trap or electrocute the mother. It just cost you a few hundred bucks.

Oh and a good shop will fair in the the scratches so when they repaint you will never see it. A lot of work will not be cheap for a good job
