Spotless Water Systems
CR SPOTLESS De-Ionized Water Filtration System
Spot-Free Rinse System: No Drying Required
I bought this system the other day at Costco for $299.
At first I was reluctant to pay $300 for a filter which later
I would have to pay for additional Resin bags. I'd used
an automated pay car wash which you drive thru that
also utilized a spot free rinse and was impressed. So
I finally took the plunge.
Installation or assembly is fairly simple and straight
forward. Use the supplied Teflon tape to twist on two
fittings. One 4 foot stainless steel hose runs from the
filter to the faucet. The other end you'll need your own
garden hose. They supply a nozzle with different spray
patterns. The filters come pre-installed. You also get a
special wrench when the filter needs changing. Actually
they use resin bags. About 20 minutes later I was ready
to wash.
I have a silver 2006 Tacoma and a 2001 Black Honda CIVIC.
The Tacoma gets dirty from the 4x4 driving we do on a
weekly basis. The Honda being Black collects dust pretty
much as soon as you wash it.
I did my regular rinse with my power washer, then soap
down the truck with a mitten. Another rinse with the
power washer and finally a good rinse with the Spotless
system. Don't expect too much pressure from the Spotless
system rather a shower of mineral free water. At first I could
still see water drops on the windows and roof. Other areas
like the hood and doors the water seemed to roll off rather
then collect as before. The instructions state you can just
let is sit and dry for the same effect. I took a quick drive
and let the wind blow some of the water around. Sure
enough after about 10 minutes the entire car was dry
and spotless.
The basic concept it to rinse, wash, rinse and then
rinse with the spotless system. Use a sweeping
broom motion to wash away the contaminated water
and soap. Making sure you get in the cracks and
groves since any left over water not from the spotless
system will later drip and leave water spots.
I never used a towel or squeegee, just rinsed the car
at washing it. In fact it looked better then when I would
have to towel dry. It looked clean and waxed. So at
this point I'm impressed and glad I shelled out the
$300. I found it online but at a higher $39 which I
suspect is to cover shipping. Some Costco stores
carry them in the auto section for $300. Note that
some did not carry it so you might call and check.
I'll have to report back later when I need to change the
resin bags. Ultimately the cost of the resin and the
purchase of the unit itself need to be factored in. You
won't need to wash or dry towels, nor will you chance
scratching your clear coat paint. I also like the idea of
having to wash less since you can do a quick rinse
between washes with the unit to remove dust and
keep it looking clean. It also does outdoor windows.
It has wheels and can easily be moved so no matter
where you worry about water spots this thing will
work wonders.
The unit also included a small TDS meter which
measures the treated water, once the resin stops
removing the minerals that cause the spots it
will let you know you need to replace the resin.
Well worth the money for the time and effort it
saves me drying the cars. Plus being able to
rinse the cars between washes.
