Gen5 Paint is stripping

I have an '02 Camry LE V6 and the paint on the inside edge, around the periphery of the trunk is starting to bubble, crack, and strip off. The paint around the edge of the hood is starting to crack and chip off too. Is this happening to anyone else? I don't use anything aggressive to clean my car, just regular hand car washes and it's exposed to typical southern California sun.

It doesn't look repainted; seems like the original metal underneath the peeling paint and strange that it's only happening to the hood (reasonable with all its heat and temperature changes) and trunk (just strange) Guess all I can do is wait for it to get bad enough to repaint the whole car

Are you the original owner? The factory paint job ain't that great but it isn't that bad either. The Hawaii sun is just as bad as SoCal I'm sure, and I've never seen paint flaking off like that - even on neglected cars.

If you're the original owner and sure the car has not been repainted, I'd take it up with Toyota even if you're out of your corrosion warranty.

Looks like a badly painted replacement part to me. Are you the first owner?

I would swear all that bubbling effect looks like a weld seam that was not prepped right before painting. If you are not the original owner I would swear on a repair seam. An either way you should clean that stripped paint away and some of the bubbled area. You need to see what is going on. You live in a dry area and it is not hit by the sun in that location. You might live near salt water and that could be a issue. if all looks good you can just prime and paint after since it is not in a visible location. But don't leave it.
