Waxed the Corolla this weekend, have a ?

I washed, rinsed, dried the car and applied Collinite 845 Insulator wax. No cleaner, just a great wax. When I did the top, I did the entire top and noticed "black" on the applicator and wiping towel (both microfiber) coming from the black strips on the top.

Do you guys wax them or try to work around?

Also, on my '87 Toy truck and my '00 Corolla, the exterior door belts started losing the coating after a few years. Did Toyota fix that problem during the past 8 years that anyone knows of?

As a rule I typically do not wax the weatherizing strips. I might hit them with armor all every once and awhile to keep them from drying out though.

I probably wasn't clear. I don't wax the door belts, they were just something that the coating peeled of of on my old Toyotas.

What I was talking about putting wax on are the black rubber (?) strips on the top.

I try to keep away from them and if i get some wax on them, which is inevitable, I just wipe it off. No harm.

Generally speaking, avoid plastic and rubber parts when waxing. However, there are wax products that will not discolor those parts.

Yeah, I use Turtle Wax ICE 'synthetic polish' (liquid) and the rubber parts are a non-issue. It wipes off nice and clean.
