what's a good wash/polish/wax product?

A few weeks ago I purchased a 2005 HL Limited with Sonora Gold Pearl (4R3) finish. I'm looking for the better product(s) to use from wash/polish/wax. The vehicle's "clear coat" (?) finish looks swell but after washing and using a spray and wipe wax the surface still has the toothy sort of feel to it as if pollutants or particulates have attached themselves to the finish. Has anyone here used the Meguiar's products? Are the Meguiar's products better than the rest? I've watched every video Meguiar's has and still looking over their product line. Is there a better DIY product HL owners should know about?

Any recommendations are very much appreciated. I'm looking forward to taking the HL down by the lake for some evening shots to post here. Of course I want her to look her best for y'all.

Good grief...I'm feeling overwhelmed - http://meguiarsdirect.com/

If you're feeling contaminants on the surface you will need to use a clay bar with detail spray to remove them prior to waxing. Mequiar's sells a complete kit including the clay bar, detail spray, microfiber towel and a small container of wax but you might want to choose a different wax as I believe the one they include is a cleaner wax and you probably don't need it on a new vehicle. Good luck!

Wow I am impressed, you clay bar once a month? and rewax once a month? I would never have the patience to do that! I cheat, I do a Klasse several coats then wax on top, have done this for a few cars, This happens once every 6 months. Living in Canada and no heated garage I have to plan around winter. Just after winter I use the klasse all in one and that acts like a stripper, then put a few coats of klasse (standard one) over a few days. Then the wax.

As for Meguiar's I think they have some great products as do most. It's mostly about packaging and such. If you like the end product use it. Some waxes last longer than others. That Klasse I mentioned is the new way to go. Its an acrylic system that lasts longer but does not give the deep finish of a good carnuba wax. Hence I do both.

The clay bar works wonders, it really does the start of a good job, but warning its one heck of alot of work. Using the klasse I clay my cars every other year if needed. I live under trees so sap and other items happen.

Happy driving.
