Clear Coat Protection

I took my new 2009 HL into the car wash the other day and the owner was trying to tell me that all cars need a clear coat protection applied, and of course he wanted to sell me one HEHEHE. I thought that's what we use wax for LOL. Anyway is there something to having clear coat protection applied.

the clearcoat IS the protection. it's there to protect and preserve the luster of the pigmented paint coat. wax is meant to preserve the longevity of the paint in general and to keep it from drying out over time. you can apply wax as often as you'd like, but usually twice yearly is sufficient. i do mine in spring and fall with my oil changes, its just easier for me that way.

Protecting your clear coat is a good idea. A high quality synthetic paint sealant is the way to go. I have used Klasse All In One for a few years now and highly recommend it. You really get a deep shine with wax on top of it...
