best way to remove scuffs and scratches from Rav4 bumper

I washed my Rav4 today and as I was drying it off I noticed my bumper had some scuff marks and scratches almost like someone side swiped me in a parking lot or something while I was in a store.

What can I use to try and remove most of this myself so it isn't visible?

Try using a clay bar, but if the scratches are deeper than the paint surface then you'll probably need some touch-up paint.

So I should avoid using something like Meguiars scratch x?

I would try the clay bar first, it's less harsh than the Scratch X. If that doesn't do it then move onto the Scratch X.

btw do you recommend bug deflectors? I am thinking about putting it on my Highlander and our Rav4.....sort of don't like how they look, but if it means less rock chips maybe....

I have to be honest here, I have never used clay bar, but maybe I should on both of our suv's....I wax once every 2-3 months so my paint looks and feels great. Is clay bar still needed in my case and if so how often? once a year ?

Yeah, I guess I would recommend bug deflectors, but the Taco folks are having fitment problems with the Toyota OEM ones. I hear that a lot of people recommend the WeatherTech ones though.

Clay bar is easy to use, I would maybe use it 2x/year or so.

I heard about that too. I guess I'm gonna check out an aftermarket place here here that sells Lund bug deflectors...but if more people recommend Weathertech I might just order those online which is the only place I can buy them.

Should I use it after waxing or before?

Yes, wax should be the final step after everything is done. If you want to go the whole 9 yards, Pb (Kent) wrote a whole DIY which is stickied at the top of this forum. Happy reading!
