Why would you use sandpaper in the first place? There would be other things like GooGone, WD-40 etc. before I do anything like using sandpaper. Like eyezack said earlier, the only way is to repaint the affected portion of the car.

Wow, for future reference use 3M Adhesive Remover for removing glue. It's not cheap but it works much better than Goo Gone.

Wayyy too low of a number. If I had to wetsand, I'd go only as low as 3000gritt. Otherwise I'll stick to 4000gritt and work slow but steadily

1k is low dude. hell just for somethin like headlight restorarion i run 2k. u can try to buff in some carnauba or getting a can of krylon clear gloss and trying your luck. like dana said though, for goo or adhesive leftover like when you debadge a car, 3m is the shit.

if its a small spot, id try to wax and buff it as much as possible but if you dulled down a huge spot, i would grab 2-3k sandpaper and wetsand the whole thing to an even dull then spray just the trunk with clear and hope for the best. if not have maaco play with it.

/EDIT- you went just through the clear right? the actual color part is still there right?
