Actually, I used them several months ago when it was still hot out. TN member FlawedLegacy and I spent the day detailing and I was genuinely impressed by how much crap the Mothers's clay bar got off the car. The finish was truly glass smooth. At this point the part I wasn't impressed with was the spray wax/clay lube that comes in the kit and the Mothers Carnauba Cleaner Paste Wax we used as a finish. I thought they were kinda thin compared to other products I've used so I assumed they would wear pretty quick. They didn't.
Several months passed and I forgot about it...
I'm the type of guy who has all but completely given up on washing the cars by hand sept for twice a year. Once before winter to get a good coat of wax on and once after to get the salt off. I do however hit the brushless drive thru from time to time and if I wasn't so low I admit I'd use the types with brushes made famous by Richard Prior and George Carlin in 1976. [singing]"
At the Car Wash..."[/singing]
So, the time to do the pre-winter wash came over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. I get the bucket out and gather my supplies. Normally it takes a couple hours to scrub, fill, seal and wax two cars. Even with Lemon Joy it usually takes two or more soapings to cut all the drivethru wax and sealer. This time however it was a breeze. The crap came off in one soaping and the finish to my amazement was still pretty damn smooth. After soaping with Joy, I did a quick wipe down with the Mothers clay bar kit, followed by some 3M Pink Fill-in Glaze and a double coat of Mothers Carnauba Cleaner Paste Wax. The entire process was a little more labor intensive on the wife's wagon as I hadn't done the clay bar or wax at the beginning of last spring/summer. Time will tell how the waxes hold up over the winter's harsh elements but for now, I'm sold on the Mothers clay bar kit and carnauba.
Sorry Turtle...
