Swirl Marks/Spiderwebbing...

Aside from the powered orbit buffers and such, what's the best way to remove the dreaded spiderwebbing and swirls we can see baked into our metallic paints under certain lights?

I can't stand these things...I'm beginning to kick myself for going with the Blue Ribbon Metallic color...

Not sure what's "baked" about spiderwebbing and swirls, though often they can be the result of improper washing and drying, and yes, that includes doing so in the hot sun.

We'd recommend you wash, clay and then use our 3-step Ultimate Wax System -- all components are available at your local Pep Boys or online: California Gold Car Wash, Pre-Wax Cleaner, Sealer & Glaze, and Pure Carnauba Wax paste.

You can apply them by hand or with our PowerBall 4Paint, and you'll be able to do a more thorough job for the best results. Try two applications of Sealer & Glaze in a test spot to see if you see any improvement or not.

Protect it with the Pure Carnauba Wax paste which can also be applied by hand or PowerBall 4Paint.

Remove all products with a quality cotton terry or microfiber towel.

Though only one bucket is shown, try using two buckets during a wash:

Clay:

Though the FX SynWax is demonstrated here, apply products in this fashion:

Follow every wash by drying with FX Spray Wax for added gloss and protection, or at least Showtime:

I just meant that they seemed "baked" into the paint at this point -- I did a full wash and detail this afternoon, and the paint looked a bit dull afterward. I'm sure I'm getting these swirls and spider webs from what you said -- improper washing and drying, although this was a bit out of my hands because prior to moving to our new house where I was able to hand wash the Camry on a driveway myself, we lived in an apartment and I was forced to take it to a hand wash place that detailed it for me; they didn't use any automatic brushes or anything -- you can watch the car go through -- and towel dried it, but I'm sure all the time I didn't have a garage to park her in and the possibility that the wash was being harsh during the wash/dry process didn't help my paint...

Wow...this seems really daunting...how long would this process take? Also -- I have always used Gliptone Wash 'N Glow soap for wash solution, so could I clay and do the three step wax using your products afterwards?

The Ultimate Wax System, once installed, can be maintained with alternating applications of Pure Carnauba Wax or Sealer & Glaze and Pure Carnauba Wax.

In other words, you don't need to use all three products each time, just once or twice a year.

FX SynWax paste by itself might provide a satisfactory look with a vehicle you describe, so it may be worth a try. It's a very nice product and very easy to use.
