How to keep that new car shine?

I am a long time Toyota car owner, I just purchased my 2nd white camry SE and I absolutely love it. I had the opportunity to view side by side my old white Camry next to the new one, while only being 3 yrs old I noticed though how dull the paint was next to the shiny new one. I am wondering which car soap will help maintain the shine best?

Hello there, and welcome to Toyota Nation!

I'll move your thread over to the Detailing & Car Care forum so the members there can help you out, but I'd also suggest using the search feature to locate past threads about the best car washes and waxes because there's been a ton of them...a treasure trove of information for you....

Give it a good clay bar, polish and wax to protect it and most of the shine should come back. One caveat though, if your paint or clearcoat is in bad condition then most of what I've said probably won't help much, maybe except the polish and wax part, depending on how bad the paint/clearcoat is. Check our stickys at the top and maybe you can get some other pointers.

If you want the best permanent protection for your paint, I would look into getting Opti-Guard, or Opti-Coat. It is a type of resin that acts as a second clearcoat on your car, and is much harder and more durable than any factory cleacoat. You can think of it as a permanent wax. The only downside is that it needs to be installed by a reputable professional detailer.

If you're a DIY guy, you can polish the paint to renew its shine, then apply a paint sealant to the paint. Synthetic sealants last much longer than carnauba wax.

all of the whites that came out of nummi dont have clearcoat, and i believe that method is also used elsewhere. white toyota cars (not sure if all of them) need lots of cleaning/waxing, etc.
