Wheel cleaner for '12 Limited

What is a good wheel cleaner? These are just regular alloy wheels right? I saw Meguiar's all wheel cleaner...would that be safe to use?

Thanks

I have never used nor will use a wheel cleaner. Just use a dedicated mitt, sponge or very soft wheel brush and soap on your wheels. I use Dove dish soap occasionally. Apply some wax to your wheels and they will be easy to clean afterwards...all that brake dust etc won't stick. And, you save some $ and avoid having to use any harsh chemicals on your wheel and components.

Agreed - BUT, I would NEVER use any type of dish soap as it contains emulsifiers that will break down the wax that you applied.

I suggest that you use a good, dedicated car wash soap (one that does not contain any wax in the soap either). I personally only use synthetic wax which should not be mixed with natural waxes either... Like engine oil, once you go synthetic wax, stay with synthetic unless you strip it all off and begin from scratch.

PS - Mav - congrats on the new ride! My wife's is Black/Ash too and it is the best combo but a PITA to keep clean...

Thank you! My wife is absolutely loving it! Showed it to my parents and hers, and they all love it as well. I know it's already showing a little dust/whatever blows in the air (not even dirt really) ha ha.

I'll have my hands full keeping this clean!

By the way, I have to ask the dealership if they tinted the front driver/passenger windows. I'm already seeing lines everywhere (not bubbles though). They didn't warn us to not roll down the windows or anything. I figured they would have told us...maybe that's assumed. Places I've been to in the past though put a little sticker over the power windows, or will tell me not to roll them down for 1 or 2 days.

Thanks again!

Don't use anything harsher than you'd use on your paint. Alloy wheels are painted / clearcoated just like the car.

Good point, especially if your using a non-synthetic. However, the synthetic wax I use is not impacted by Dawn, and I only use it when the wheels are really really dirty and cleaning the gunk built up on the inside of the wheel. Car soap is the best option though, especially if using carnauba based wax.

Use a pH balanced wheel cleaner like P21S Gel Wheel Cleaner. Strong enough to cut through break dust and grime, yet safe for the finish.
