Meguiars made by Porter Cable

You will not find a better machine or pads for the price. No disappointments, great products...been using them for 20 years. Their latest stuff is here:

BTW their newest pads, and backing plate technology are worth their weight in gold.

+2 on the meguairs DA polisher. you can sometimes get it as low as $150 on amazon. i wouldn't buy something cheap, it isn't worth it. either do it by hand or pay the money for a good one that won't burn or damage your finish in any way.

I've used the griots garage random orbital polisher, had it for 3+ years and used it about 3-4 times a year and love it.

The Meguiars backing plate, unique to their machines only, and pads are far superior to the Porter Cable standard. Meguiars has the combination perfected. All of these machines are made by Porter Cable. Order the Meguiars kit with their foolproof pads. Otherwise you will end up paying more for pads that WILL NOT LAST.

Just to be clear, if you want the new Meguiars backing plate, then you have two choices:

1. Buy the Meguiars machine with it already in the kit.

2. Buy a Porter Cable, or Griots machine, and spend extra money for the Meguiars backing plate.

I've used the regular PC 7424 not the 7424XP. I like mine. It does a really good job when I detailed the cars I worked on. I actually put mine up for sale in the FS forum. I moved to a new place and just needed to get rid of a few things. I've had mine for about 2 years and Ive used it about 5-6 times total and I don't use it as much anymore. Does a good job on cleaning headlights and keeps the car looking shiny. I've also heard a lot of good things about Griots Garage's DA too.

Um, no. That isn't true because it has the same threading as the Porter Cable. If you really are into the detail world, its the way you use everything, not the products themselves. I have no Meguiars pads but I use their polishes with Lake Country pads. I have had no problems getting 99% correction rate. I've also been using the same LC pads since I started detailing over 3 years ago. I've done about 40 cars total with both a PC and Rotary. They are still usable

Well I'm sorry but it is true. You can find the details here.

http://www.meguiarsdirect.com/product_detail.do?q=4806

I've have them both sitting here in front of me and I can assure you the Meguiars plate is custom engineered for their latest 7" pads.

just a few of my toys for these jobs

I highly recommend the PC orbital for the price/effectiveness/ease of use. It's pretty hard to screw something up with it..

Awesome machine IMHO! I purchased a 7424XP from Autogeeks a couple of weeks ago, and used it the first time this past weekend.

I used it with the Maguires DA MF detailing system on my sons Black 98 Honda CR-V and the results were amazing!

This Vehicle was eat up with neglect!!

good stuff. I remember when I first got it. The second car I did was my friend's s2000. it was night and day after I got done with it. The things the PC can do is pretty amazing.
