Swirl marks?

After having my brand new black 2012 highlander for 6 day, I notice there swirls Mark, how or what can I do to remove them, I have not wash the car yet. The only wash it got was from the dealer upon pick up.

darker colors do show more swirls, my 2007 rav4 dark blue looked terrible after 4 years. went with the blizzard white, shows dirt, but not much else.

dealer will most likely detail if you call.

That is your problem right there. Any cloth/brush car wash will induce swirls. Hand washing will also, but at a lesser rate. You can pick up a polisher and do it yourself. Or take it to a good detailer to polish your whole car. Touchless washes and hand washing is the way to go.

I polish my black limited twice a year. Once in the spring and the other in the fall.

I just order some Meguiars products for detailing/ paint protection. I guess taking it to the dealer will be a waste of time.

Just detail it yourself using some polish applied with a random orbital buffer.

black is virtually impossible to maintain. it is THE hardest color to maintain, and unless you drive it rarely, garage store it and pamper it like a ferrari it's going to show swirl marks.

like others have stated, polishing it regularly will help, but polishing it also removing a small amount of the protective finish (clear coat) each time. you don't want to polish it TOO much, once or twice a year is plenty.

my suggestion would be to spend your time protecting the finish with a high quality wax (the synthetics last longer between applications but don't look as good typically). wax regularly, use a california duster often and use a good detailing wax spray in between washes.

the bottom line is black takes a lot of meticulous time and elbow grease to keep it looking sharp over the years.

Would "PorterCable" + "Meguiar's NXT Scratch Remover 2X" do the job instead of polishing?

Black will forever show marks. While it is impossible to make it perfect, you can get darn close with the right waxes and some experience.

Time to bone up on that wax technique!

I use meguiar's 105 + 205 polish combo followed by a wax or sealant of choice and it looks great on Honda/acura clear coat. I have not tried a Toyota yet but will get to it next week.
