A more serious rim width question for a gen 2

ok ok, the whole 20's on a gen 2 thing was a bad idea. But I currently have 17 by 7.5's with 40 series tires on my 91. I want to upgrade to a 18" rim but with a width of 8, instead of 7.5. My tire size would have to be

215\35\18 for them to fit properly

how could I get a 8" to work on my car?!? What kinds of mods would I have to do?

Depends on the offset. Me and another guy here (da_horse) test fit rims on his car, and it proved that 8" rims don't fit without a)a spacer or b)a high offset. Either of which would require the guards to be rolled.

Personally, i've found 7" rim to be a "perfect" fit with a +38 offset. No rubbing, and clears the strut fine. I'm running 215's on my 17x7's.

spacer+higher offset = the same as b4.

im guessing youd need something with a WRX application (which in 8" wdith you wont find much as the WRX is the closest car with teh same (very high) offset)

i see problems with suspension travel.. youd have to keep it frop going any further then under the lip flare of the wheel guards.

if yroeu dead set, get some custom 2 or 3 peice wheels made to suit.
