my '88 camry

I just recently got a used 88 camry 4 cyl and the speedometer doesn't really work at all and goes on sometimes but just stays around 20mph. I was gonna take it apart and make sure everything is plugged in right but if everything looks fine do i just replace it with another instrument cluster that i can find used? It's the one without the tach. I'm not sure how all that works since it is like messing with the mileage.

you can replace it with another cluster from the junkyard it'll take the one with a tach w/o a problem you can swap the milage by swapping it with your old cluster only held on by 2 screws i think
