2nd Generation 1990 v6 camry doesnt like the cold

On a really cold morning my car has no power if i drive it when the engine is cold. I have to wait for the engine to warm up for about 8 - 10 min before my vehicle becomes driveable. Any ideas?

happens to a lot of us, ive been to the point where the more id press on the gas the LESS acceleration id get. my conclusion was its age, ie poor compression/lots of built up the computer cant anticipate i dont know for sure but i didnt like it, but reguardless it wont cause any damage in anyway so nothing to worry about in that category.

Heh...this is weird. My car is the opposite. HATES got weather (runs sluggish, low torque, gear changes seem weird (not me)) but in cold weather, its great! LOL

Just let it warm up. Alot of cars do this. Combustion temps arent up to operating temprature yet.

Did your camry not have power when it was cold last year? Or is it worse now like some thing is wrong or changed. I have a 89 v-6 and it loses power until it warms up but this is normal and mine has always done that. The transmission is setup to shift different also unitl the car warms up. Your car is working normal unless the power loss is more than it
was the last few winters....

my car i guess never liked the cold but i was not sure if there was something wrong with it. I can't imagine my car performing like it does now when it is very cold when it was brand new. Maybe its normal, I just want to be sure.

Don't worry about it, this is completely normal. Even if your Camry doesn't have high mileage (and mine is at around 220,000 miles or 350,000+ km) it will still perform differently with age. Remember that your engine is a mass of different controls working together to make power. Rubber, plastic, silicone, and even non-corroding metals such as aluminum change their characteristics over time. Letting the car warm-up for a few minutes is a small price to pay at 194,000 miles. Try driving almost any other make with that mileage on it and you'll think nothing of the short wait in the morning.

BTW, how cold has it been where you are? Jan and Feb where I live routinely go down to -30 degrees Celcius (-22 degrees Farenheit) at night when I'm going to work, and my Camry only needs a few minutes to warm-up...block heaters are a good investment.
