My 1990 4-cyl 5-spd eBay special gets 37-38 mpg according to my wife's numbers (miles driven/gallons filled). I haven't verified it myself, but, I just got the car back from her since I finally got her Civic fixed, and I'll verify it.

I haven't done a single thing for tune-up on this car. I need to check my tire pressure, check out the filter/plugs, clean the IAC etc., and see if it helps out even more.

I've got a 70-mile round trip drive...I need all the MPG I can get.

Used to have 89 w/auto tranny that got 40 mpg on highway at 60-65 mph, 36 mpg at same speeds with AC on. Mixed mileage was about 25 mpg.

My 1987 5-speed 4 cylinder Camry gets mid-30's in town and upper 30's on the highway. I have noticed the best gas mileage with Chevron 89, but I have been running 87 BP due to the price differences. Also, I am not a big fan of 10% ethanol they have in Chevron now.

My other former 1987 Camry automatic station wagon gets about 30mpg with mixed driving. I have got as high as 37mpg on the highway. However, it has got as low as 23mpg with all short trip driving needing a tune-up.
