2nd Generation 1990 LE - Timing Belt change - what else to change at the same time? Rubber Mounts?

I plan on keeping this car for sometime to come - about 3-5years.

This weekend, I'll be getting the timing belt changed. What else should be changed while doing this? Any seals etc. that can be easily replaced while at it? How about the motor mounts and others?

Yesterday I had the car up on jacks and saw that most of the mounts are hardend/cracked/shot. Yet the car runs fine! Is it worth changing the mounts etc?

Thanks in advance!

Gopal,

There are 17 pages of threads if you run a search on "timing belt". Two that seemed interesting were:

Ken4 had a good thread for a 2000 Camry http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/t109966.html

Tracyf”s 1990 V6
http://home.earthlink.net/~faulkner36303/timingbelt.html

Even though they aren't your model they are informative.

Parts I would consider: water pump, oil pump gaskets (shaft seal & gasket), tensioner pulley & spring, main seals (cam & crank shafts), and valve cover gasket (why not). Replacing the motor mounts will give you a better feel and may help reduce wear on other joints. I read somewhere that bad motor mounts would cause hard shifts from park to fwd or reverse but I don't know if that is true for Camrys.

2nd Generation

Kep,

Thanks!
Yes, after asking that Q, I've beening going through that list of threads... and did come up with a list very similar to yours - add to that drive-belts.

Clearly, I'll not be doing the job, but I'll be helping the mechanic do it. Perhaps I'll keep clicking and make a DIY. Let's hope he isn't too pissed.
