engine dies during a rain storm...

my buddy has a 91 camry and it runs perfectly fine on dry sunny days but when it rains it periodically stalls or just dies on him. it would start up fine even after a huge down pour or is just after a storm but when he drives around and then stops and tries to start the car up itll just crank. right when he lets go of the key it would start to try to start. then if he is at a light and takes off itll stall and die on him. then if hes in park or neutral nd he revs it it would sputter and start to stall but wont and if he gets it past that point itll run just fine. anyone got a clue? im stumped and hes stumped and we are pretty car smart.

Replace the igintion coil. While you're at it go ahead and replace the distributer cap, wires and spark plugs if they havent been done recently.

Coil is located under the distributer cap, 15 minute job, $30 part.
