1st & 2nd Generation (1983–1986 & 1987-1991)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1983-1986 & 1987-1991.
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Something was brought to my attention and now I think about it I dont remember seeing a Camry set up like this one when I worked at yota in 89, it is a 88 CE model, no electrics, no sunroof, no flop down rear seat, 5 speed, CE/DX seats, pocket under radio, cruise, but a v6 in front and v6 on the trunk lid and grille and 15 inch wheels and hubcaps, and it has rear disk, is this a rare car?
I have never seen a base model with a V6 in it. I don't know really, but the toyota repair manual for the 2nd gen camry seems to imply that there was no v6 base model camry ever. However it might be possible that someone with a base model put the v6 badge on the car and had a v6 dropped in it? what's the vin number on the car?
DLX=Deluxe
LE=Luxury Edition
CE??? does that mean like Canadian Edition

ce means classic edition, the powertrain and the entire car is oem including the vin, its never been hit, its all there and boy do i need help finding a good interior, the dash is perfect and blue, i have a grey one in the garage if i find a good grey interior
You could get a DX with most of the power options left out, I believe. Also, the DX emblem has no holes behind it on the trunk (the only place where the DX or LE emblem goes) so it could have fallen off or been removed previously.

^thats what i was thinking too, but that emblem is glued on there pretty good with foam-type tape. when i pulled mine off to get the car painted, it left some residue that never really came all the way off.

Ah. I seen some V6 DX but then again I bet they are all AT. There's a few V6 LE here and there still going about. I did remember seeing a V6 (unbadged) one but then again the trim letter might have fell off.
^yep it sure does, looks just like a base model 4cyl, although it does have cloth inserts on the doors, while many of the base models ive seen from that year just had full vinyl door cards.

i found a very nice le interior for it over the weekend, the car is showroom except it hit something in the front and some dope tossed a bunch of parts into it, i just need base door panels with cloth, and shifter knob, everything is grey, and a grey cluster bezel without the prndl
