85 camry upgrade ideas?

I am going to be upgrading a few things on my car within my next few months.
I have an 85 camry and I plan to uprgrade some existing parts to higher performance parts such as the Fuel pump (now Airtex) already done, it was needed anyways.
in order of what im doing first
-full exhaust system
-suspension & lowering about 1- maybe 2 inches
-cold air intake
-Fuel injectors
-engine oil cooler
-ignition control system

although I am wondering how do I go about lowering my car what do I need for that just some special struts or lowering springs?
I am researching what products I want to use, that will help achive the best performance. but I am open to suggestions if any of you have some good ideas.

leave the 2se alone, it is not a performance part and never will be one, your better off putting in a version of the 3s or 2vzfe, is your car a 5 speed?

Yea, there arent any "performance parts" for a 1st gen Camry, there are a few for the 2nd gen, but not many. Anything you do will have to be a one off custom peice, and more than likely more effort than its worth. Save your money, buy something better.

yes my car is a 5 speed,
I would like to keep this car because it is in immaculate condition not a spot of rust anywhere and they last forever. I have heard that some 83-86 camrys have been able to do 0-60 in 7 sec or so because the engine was in perfect running cond although mine isnt perfect, thats why I was thinking about the upgrades and cleaning the engine up. If I were to do an engine swap (I know it would be damn expensive, and I will have to save up for a bit longer than I was planning) but what would be the easiest one to get the 2se swapped with. an newer camry engine, celica or Mr2, ?

a 3sfe out of a 87-91, get the computer, motor harness and all out of a 5 speed car if you could, and use a 3sge exhaust manifold from a celica

Haha, no way in hell. brand spankin new i cant imagine it being any faster than a gen2, which has more hp, similar weight, and stock gen2 5spds are lucky to get 0-60 in 12sec. I know my auto gen2 was near 15sec 0-60.

You can put whatever engine you want in there, question is how much money do you really want to spend on a 21 year old camry.

my camry does 0-60 in 10.04 seconds and it isnt running at its best...No Bull ... i have seen at least 2or3 camrys on cardomain one at 7 seconds another at 8 and another at 9 seconds

has anyone ever done a 3s-fe swap with a 2se.

you say take the 3sfe out of a 87-91, get the computer, and motor harness,
so I could use the tranny from the 2se no problem then
and would I need to worry about changing the motor mounts at all...

I am just curious here, about the camry i4 5sfe, has it ever been swapped before and how difficult might it be... would anyone reccomend it

SOOO not worth it, its not a good swap, you'd spend a couple grand to gain maybe 10-15hp.

its not just a swap to gain a few hp, with the newer motor Im able to mod it more than with my current engine, because there is not much available for a 2se.
as of right now I have over 5k savered up and my uncle would get me a good deal on a place to get it done or he may even help me do it myself

OK...a 3SFE is NO better than a 2SE for modding purposes.

^turbo 3SFE, do a bit more research and youll see that only 1-2 people have had one that was any sort of reliable. Turboing a 2SE would be a similar undertaking, only advantage is the 3SGTE turbo exhaust manifold bolts directly up to the 3SFE.

honestly, take the 5k, spend $1000 on getting your car up to spec, running perfectly. then take the remander and spend it on something fun/mod-able. mr2's and celicas can all be had at that price range with realitive ease, and there's plenty of fun stuff you can do to one of those. Hell, spend $3000 on a really nice mk1 mr2, throw the factory supercharger on it and have a blast for less than $4000 easy.
