2nd Generation SV21 Camry Questions

Hello all.. Just have a couple of questions about my 1990 Camry

Mum gave it to me when she'd done with it.. and since then I've found out it has a few problems

It seems to get hotter than I think it should.. The temp gauge reads ok in the car but after running the bonnet gets insanely hot (I burnt my hand on it) and as you're driving if you accelerate it goes to about half way (You can see the stick on the little picture but not the lines off the top) and when it drops around idle it goes down a little bit (You can see the lines but not the stick).. the picture boing the little thermometer that looks like an F in water.. is that normal or should it stay in one spot?

Another problem is once it gets up to speed (About 80+km/h .. (50miles)) it starts to vibrate.. and when you brake is shudders really badly (to the point where the whole steering column vibrates loudly)

I love my baby and don't want to get rid of her.. So any ideas would be appreciated

try to balance the tires first see if that helps the vibrate... and your brake rotors are warped if it's shaking the wheel that badly... as for the cooling problem i have no idea what you'r describing.. what stick ? lines ?

Yeah.. On rereading the post of the cooling problem .. It was 2am when I did it..

Umm.. Once it gets to it's right temp the needle is almost half way up the gauge.. But when I'm driving I can play the "temp guage needle dance" if I accelerate it goes up a fraction to half.. and I let go of the accelerator it goes down to just below half just a quickly..

I've never noticed it do that before

I've just replaced the thermostat because it was jammed shut and also the radiator cap.. Flushed and refilled the cooling system and did an oil change..

Still burn my hand on the bonnet though

i will get it one day.. Still gotts work out why i do the temp gauge dance.. The engine in it is a reco (Mum was checking the auto fluid instead of the oil) and it's only done 80,000k-ish .. Had a really bad knock on startup for years.. until I put an oil filter in with an anti drain-back valve in it.. The starter motor doesnt work every now and then (it jams) and it sounds like the heatshield rattles.. It has a rather long todo list

Oh and I have to ge new rear trim.. it all fell off.. Subs and lose trim don't agree

Is it a bad thing if the jiggle valve is in the wrong position? I'm not sure if mine is pointing the right way
