USA 90 Camry v6 engine

I have had this happened to my car a long while back, while I was driving the car, I started hearing some tapping sound coming from the engine. and it got louder and louder until a pop was heard, the engine died.

The engine had been leaking oil due to seal/gasket failure, so it is no surprising that the engine eventually failed.

So where is most like area that got damaged, the engine head (valve, cam), cylinders or the piston?

I am interested in rebuilding the engine if all possible.

Any comment and suggestion is greatly appreciated!

Sounds like the engine threw a rod. Are there any holes in the block or oil pan?

At this point theres not much you can do, other then start taking the engine apart. I'd start by removing the oil pan and look for chunks of metal.

Cool

Bent a rod, or snapped one. The offending cylinder wall, piston + rod + associated connecting hardware, crankshaft & bearing surfaces.
Drop the oil pan & take a look. If it popped, go buy a used one with a warrantee that it'll run for afew months & put some new gaskets in it to make sure it's OK & wont leak.

Unfortunately you can only get the 1vzfe from Japan not the 2vzfe. The 1vzfe has a smaller displacement than the 2vzfe.
