Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I'm looking for these and found a parts car on eBay that has them. I asked and the owner said $150 plus S/H, is that a little too much? Thanks. Also, is it worth it to get new suspension bushings or whatever to fix the damned loud squeak everytime I brake?
Do you have an oil leak on the engine? That's the main reason the bushings would go... oil + rubber = rot. The bushings on the driver's side of my Camry are fine even after almost 400,000km, but the p/s are shot thanks to a number of oil seal failures....
As far as the basketweave rims, you can have a pair for about $60USD if you drive for two days to Thunder Bay...just got a set on an 89 LE at the scrap yard where I work. JK.

Honda my A$$, you just can't kill a Yota...
Well, there's that P/S leak -_- don't know if it's coming from the lines of pump. What's a black/non-body color rear bumper worth to you guys? He said "clean" so I offered 20 bucks. Gotta go see it tomorrow. TBayToyotaBoy you only got two wheels? Argh.
If you were to drive to Spokane you could get yourself a full set for $40 from the "Pull and Save" Junkyard.
Also you can get the control arm bushings for about $45 off of ebay. I've installed two sets and the toughest part is getting the old bushings off of the control arms.
Hint: Get a set of control arms off of a parts car. That way you have plenty of time to install the new bushings on them, then just replace your original control arms with the ones that have the new bushings.

Are these what you're refering to as the basketweave wheels? If so, I REALLY want/need a set of these. Mostly due to the color of my car, it looks like a real ghetto cruiser without the wheelcovers, which were the only things on my car that looked like crap with the paint flaking off of them.
@HomeGrown: Yes, those are the "basketweave" wheels I'm refering to. Keep in mind that the OEM wheels in this style only come in 14" and if you have disc brakes on the rear of your car they will not clear the calipers properly.

They won't even leave their office to pick their own nose. That is why it is the pull and save, if it wern't 125 miles away I would probably go get you a set, but I won't be in Spokane for several months.
About the control arms, if they have never been replaced before, I would bet they are at least partially responsible for the noises you are hearing. You could get down on the ground next to the car and listen while you have someone else push back and forth on your bumpers.
Most tire shops will inspect them for free and tell you if they have any "play" in them. Just don't get suckered into anything extra while you are there. As far as that goes, if they are going bad they will also affect your alignment and as a result will cause your tires to wear faster also.
@HomeGrown: The other Camry's with rear disc was the AllTrac models which actually will fit the 14" basketweave wheels. But I didn't actually think/remember that until now.
