Unhappy The Obituary of my 3SFE / Updates on 3SGTE Swap!!!

My 3SFE knocked on the pearly gates to Toyota Heaven and was finally let in on 10/19/06. She will be missed. But I had to move on so I decided to upgrade to a 3SGTE. I'll miss her and all of her gas saving goodness. But I will just have to live with more horsepower. I'll find a way to cope without my faithful 3SFE but I'll always be reminded of how good she was anytime I pull into a gas station.

My engine was recieved by the shop doing my swap today. The car will be towed to them tomorrow so they can get started. I can't wait.

pics will come when it's done.

Backyard Performance will be doing my swap. They are known throughout the tercel community for doing 3SGTEs into those and they've done an 88 celica convertible previously. They are even more excited then me about doing my swap because of how much of a sleeper it will be.

I'm pretty sure they will build you a harness. They guy doing my swap does harness' all the time. Maybe next year after this one is about done I think I'll look for another clean camry shell to throw a 3SGE in and see what it can do with a nice allmotor setup. Cams/headwork/proper exhaust and a ram air style intake. I'd hope to get around 190whp out of it when done. But either way I'll be enjoying boost for now. The swap so far is 3500 for 2nd gen alltrac motor and E153 plus a stick conversion as the car is auto right now. Extras I'm doing while it's there are 255lph fuel pump and 3 inch exhaust to N1 style canister. That is about 450 extra for those two. Today I will be droping off the money for my act clutch, new rear main seal, new timing belt, new water pump, new cam seals. All of that came up to 663. So far all I have left to pay is 800 upon completion of the swap plus 450 for the exhaust and fuel pump installl so in total another 1250 and I'm good.

500 for the harness. He reccommends that you get a 2nd. gen 3SGE if you're serious about doing the swap.

LATEST UPDATE:

The engine and tranny are together and ready to go in. The 3SFE will probably be pulled by today so that they can get started on the stick conversion. By this week friday when I get back down the the shop the 3SGTE might be in and running.

UPDATE

Ran into two setbacks last night. My passenger side engine mount is torn to shit. So I'll be ordering a new one from Toyota today. Also the cables for a manual and automatic tranny come out through two different places. So today my firewall has to be cut to run the manual tranny cables through. Other than that things should go smoothly.

UPDATE

Set backs have been over come. The car is progressing. The 3SGTE should be in by Monday OR the harness will be completed by monday. One of the two. After that a few more days and everything should be wrapped up.
