problem.. shifting gears

when I am shifting gears either accelerating or deccelerating ,.. I step on the clutch, it goes down easily but the problem is that when I move the shifter into the next gear I have to push it fairly hard before it pops into position.
the gears arent grinding and it has never done this before
what could it be??

Have you checked your brake fluid on your clutch? If that's not the problem, then it's probably gonna be a transmission problem...

How does the trans shift with the engine off and clutch pressed? When driving, does the hard shifting occur in all gears or just say 2nd?

the brake/clutch fluid is full and a little while ago I replaced the slave cylinder for the clutch.
it mainly happens with the 3rd and 2nd gear but 3 works better
and it shifts easily when the car is off

A few things to check: clutch pedal free play should be 0.20- .0.59 inch, the slave cylinder is moving the clutch fork the full amount when the pedal is pressed. Might try bleeding the system again.

sounds like your synchros are a bit worn. might be worth changing the transmission fluid with some synchromesh
