Engine removal 1990 ES250

I am trying to R/R the engine in my daughters 90 ES250. I have it striped down to the
short block and all bolts removed. I would REALLY like not to have to remove the transaxle.

I cannot seem to get the engine and tranny to separate 1/2 inch maybe. (Automatic). what am I missing..
Have I missed something about unbolting the torque converter??? and if so what? and how do I get to it. ....maybe the starter hole???
I got a Great Deal on a reman short block and this could work out to be a Sweet job if I was not such a idiot.
Any help ....Please.
T.

Have you actually unbolted the torque converter from the flywheel? This is done by removing the inspection cover on the underneath/face of the tranny and rotatiing the crank at intervals to expose the bolts. There are 6 of them. Other than that, if all the ancillery mounts and driveshafts etc etc..then it should seperate.

finally done.

I had that support bracket turned the wrong way when I reinstalled the motor ,
it is unable to rotate all the way around without hitting the pan on the bottom or the exhaust manifold on the top. SOOO now I guess I have to disconnect the axle to swing the
bracket. BUMMER.

Do you know of a quick way to besure the new oil pump is working..I am not so sure I trust
the idiot light on the dash. I worry that every noise in the valves is "not enough Oil" .

Thanks!!

Fit an oil pressure guage in the thread where the stock oil sender switch is (just next to the oil filter)...start the motor and then see what the oil pressure is. If its within specs then all good. (sorry dont have teh specs on me atm)

likely the cable is broken, or unhooked. flashing o/d light indicates a transmission problem, but i think ive had one flash that just had the cable broken.
